Stone
When stone is mined with a pickaxe, it drops cobblestone.
Natural generation
Cobblestone spawns naturally in ruins, dungeons, and on skyhold's mob spawner rooms.
Cobblestone can be found in 21.8% of loot chests in stacks of 1-15.
Liquids
Liquids reacting together to create cobblestone makes it a renewable resource.
When acid has water next to it, it turns into cobblestone.
When flowing lava has water next to it, it turns into cobblestone.
These reactions can happen naturally when generating terrain on caves, since a patch of acid/lava can generate above another patch of water, causing for the formers to fall and react on contact with eachother.
Usage
Cobblestone is a common building and fire-proof material. It also can be made into tools or be smelted to get stone.
Crafting ingredient
Tools can be made using cobblestone. These tools are more durable than wooden tools however less durable than iron tools.

A backdrop version of the Stone block can be obtained by placing the stone itself anywhere on the crafting grid. Backdrop blocks have no collision and are slightly darker than the original block. These type of blocks also occupy the space for any other foreground block too, so its only purpose is for decorating empty (or air-filled) space. To remove it, it must be replaced by another block by putting anything else in the same place or mined while holding another backdrop block.
Placing the cobblestone backdrop block into the crafting grid will give the original cobblestone block back.
Backdrop blocks can be mined only while holding another backdrop. It takes 1.2 seconds to mine the block.
