When the player shift clicks while holding a snow ball, it will be fired. Like other projectiles it is affected by gravity. If it hits a mob, it has a 33% chance to deal 1 damage, and always deals 1 damage to blaze and endermen. However, fired snow balls do not interact in any way with the player.

Bugs

These will presumably be fixed in 1.29 when snow balls become part of the new projectile code.
