Key bindings are the keys the player uses to control the game.

Moving

By default, the player can use the A, and D or arrow keys to move left and right, and W or the up arrow to jump, but these can all be changed. The spacebar can also be used to jump, however this setting can be turned off. S, or the down arrow, allows the player to sneak. This slows down the player, and they won't fall off blocks, and stops the player while riding pigs and while climbing ladders. This can also be changed.

Open menus

The defaults are:

  • E= Open the inventory
  • Shift-left-click= "Right-click" key
  • R= Open tasks list
  • Q=Drop item
  • H=Open help
  • T= Open commands
  • F2= Take screenshot

It is possible to change these key bindings by either going to 'Home Screen', then 'Settings/Skins', then 'Key Bindings', or pausing, then going to 'options'.

Other commands

Those commands don't appear in the options, and can't be changed.

  • Double tapping the movement keys = sprint / run.
  • Double tapping the up or jump keys = fly (only available on Creative).
  • Shift + drop item key = Drop the entire selected stack
