Natural Generation
Chests naturally generate as bonus chests and loot chests. Bonus chests generate near the world spawnpoint if the option is toggled on. Loot chests generate in dungeons, skyholds, and ruins.
Usage
The chest has 27 storage slots, each of which can contain 64 of the same block or item (except for slots containing items such as buckets or tools). A chest is a useful block to a new player running out of inventory space, and players that want to store and sort excess blocks and items. Destroying a chest will drop all the items it contains onto the block below where the chest was previously located.
Trivia
- Chests and furnaces are crafted similarly, with the only difference being in the type of block used in the crafting pattern (craft a chest with wood planks, craft a furnace with cobblestone).
- It's not possible to make a double (large) chest like in Minecraft, however this is a planned feature for 1.29.
