Usage

The furnace minecart obeys regular minecart physics.

When the player right-clicks on the furnace minecart with any fuel, it enters a powered state, where it starts giving off smoke particles and moves by itself in its current direction. The default direction when it is placed is to the left, however it changes if the player or another entity pushes it. The fuel lasts approximately as many seconds as it can smelt items in a furnace multiplied by 30. For example, powering a furnace minecart with coal, which smelts 8 items, lasts for 240 seconds, or 4 minutes. It does not keep its fuel when broken.

When powered, the furnace minecart pushes other minecarts, therefore it can be used to make train-like chains. The more minecarts being pushed, the slower the furnace minecart moves, due to the constant collisions. If it encounters a block in its path, it stops moving.

Bugs

  • 1.29.2: The particles created by a furnace minecart spawn in front of it but disappear behind it straight after TheTopazRobot (talk) 19:32, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
  • 1.29.2: The furnace minecart does not required rails to move when powered by fuel TheTopazRobot (talk) 19:32, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Trivia

  • Unlike in Mine Blocks, in Minecraft the furnace minecart drops a furnace and a minecart as opposed to itself.
