Lava is a liquid that flows similarly (but considerably slower) than water and acid. If the player or any mob comes in contact with lava, they will quickly take damage and die. Lava can be easily collected with a bucket and used to smelt items. Items and blocks,(other than liquids), that fall into lava are incinerated on contact.
Mixing lava and water will create cobblestone. If the lava is a source block (the lava block where lava flows out of), then obsidian is created. This same concept can be done if it comes in contact with rain, except rain creates obsidian with any lava block, not just a source block.

- You can swim in the lava during Creative Mode.
- You will die when you swim in lava during Survival Mode.
- The design of the lava has been updated in the update 1.27, such as Water, Acid, Dirt, Obsidian, Netherrack, Sign, Odd Rock, Odd Rock Ore, Topaz, Fiber, Dragon scale, Moss, Raw chicken, Cooked chicken, chicken nugget, Golden apple seed, Golden apple sapling, Clay, Paper, Lever and Rope.
- The design is the same design of the Acid, but with a different color.
