Seaweed is a block found in an ocean biome.
Contents
Obtaining
When broken, seaweed drops itself. If the block under a seaweed is not another piece of seaweed or sand, it drops as an item.
Natural Generation
Seaweed naturally generates in the ocean biome. Seaweed has a chance to generate in loot chest in stacks up to 9.
Growing
Seaweed can grow upwards in water in the same way that sugarcane and bamboo grow on land. If the block above seaweed is filled with a water source block, it can be replaced with seaweed in water.
Fishing
Seaweed can be caught while fishing. It is a part of junk category.
Usage
Crafting Ingredient
Seaweed can be crafted into three pieces of string by placing it in the crafting grid.
Farming
Seaweed grows when it is planted into a water source block on sand.
It can grow only if there is a water source block above it, which is then replaced by a seaweed block. This causes a water update.
Trivia
Seaweed increases the player's movement speed equal to walking on land while in water, as long as the seaweed is two blocks high.
Seaweed can only be placed on an existing water source block.
