Long grass is a plant block in the Overworld.

Obtaining

When broken by hand, long grass can drop different types of seeds. Long grass can be obtained as an item using shears or a tool enchanted with Silk Touch.

When broken otherwise, wheat seeds have a 20% of dropping. With Fortune I, this percentage is increased to 26.66%, to 32.06% with Fortune II, and to 36.55% with Fortune III.

These drops are not mutually exclusive, so it is possible to get multiple types of seeds from one bit of grass.

Natural Generation

Long grass randomly generates on the surface forest biomes, plain biomes and mountain biomes.

Bone Meal

Long grass has a chance to spawn when bone meal is used on grass blocks.

Usage

Long grass can be placed on dirt, coarse dirt, and grass blocks. If it does not have one of these blocks underneath, it breaks, dropping nothing.

Long grass has a 25% chance to drop seeds, and a smaller chance of dropping pumpkin seeds, melon seeds, or beetroot seeds.
