The melon block is a block that grows from planted melon seeds.
Obtaining
The melon block can be mined with anything, but using an axe will speed up the process. When mined, it drops 3-7 melons. This number can be increased by using a tool enchanted the Fortune enchantment, with Fortune 3 wielding 3-9 melons. If mined with a tool enchanted with silk touch, then it will drop itself.
When pushed by a piston, the melon block will drop as an item.
Farming
Main article: Farming
A fully grown melon stem will spawn a melon block either side of it every so often, as long as it does not already have one next to it, and as long as there is an available grass, dirt, or farmland block. Melon seeds can be obtained by breaking long grass.
Crafting
The melon block is crafted using nine melons.
Usage
The player could use the melon block as a more compact way of storing melon, however it does not give back the same amount of melons required to craft it, so some are wasted.
