String is a material found in Mine Blocks. It is quite useful, as it is used in a lot of crafting recipes.

Obtaining
Mob Drops
Spiders drop 1-2 string upon death.
Cobwebs
Drop 1 string if mined with a sword.
Crafting
Seaweed can be used to craft string.

You can craft rope back into string.

Usage
Crafting recipes
String is used in many crafting recipes.
Bow. Used to fire arrows. It is a good long range weapon, but requires arrows.

Fishing Rod. Used to fish out items from water, and to fling mobs.

Rope. An alternative to ladders. It must have a block or another rope above or next to it or it will drop as an item.

White Wool. Used to craft beds. This is probably the easiest way to get enough wool to craft a bed, because for every 1 seaweed you can craft 8 string.
