History

Version Date Changes
1.11 Aug 5, 2011
  • Added the Nether
  • Added nether rock
1.24 Dec 22, 2012
  • Nether rock is renamed to netherrack
    • Netherrack doesn’t catch on fire randomly in the overworld
1.25 May 11, 2013
  • Netherrack can be smelted to give nether brick
1.27 Nov 13, 2015
  • Updated the texture of netherrack
  • Nethereyes now drop nether brick instead of netherrack, so netherrack is no longer renewable
  • It is now used to craft soul sand.

Trivia

  • If you use flint and steel on it the fire never burns out (supposedly).
  • Doesn't give much light off if you light it with flint and steel though.
  • Netherrack is not renewable since the 1.27 update because it is no longer dropped by nethereyes.
