The armor is an equipment that allows the player to have more resistance from several damage sources.
While it is not necessary for Mine Blocks, it makes survival easier by shielding damage dealt principally by mobs. By placing it in the armor slots in the inventory menu, the armor can be worn. There are 5 types of armor in the game: leather, iron, gold, diamond, and the dragon scale tier. Armor can be damaged in a series of ways such as preventing damage from a Cactus, taking fall damage, mob attacks, lava, acid, explosions, anvil fall (affects only the helmet), fall damage (from v1.28 and onwards), etc.
Armor provides a random amount of protection (based off of its tier), so calculating the exact amount of damage with armor isn't possible. However, there is a way to estimate how good a set of armor is by the following table:
Types | % of damage protection per item worn |
Total % of damage protection from full set |
---|---|---|
Leather | 7 ±2% | 28 ±8% |
Iron | 13 ±5% | 52 ±20% |
Gold | 10 ±4% | 40 ±16% |
Diamond | 15 ±7% | 60 ±28% |
Dragon scale | 15 ±9% | 60 ±36% |

Trivia
- In the game files there are sprites of a Chainmail Armor
- Each armor piece, such as a chestplate or helmet, gives the same amount of armor protection, so a chestplate and boots offer the same amount of protection, unlike in Minecraft, where each armor piece offers different levels of protection.
