Sticks
One most needed material for all tools, including axes, hoes, shovels, swords, and pickaxes, is sticks.
Sticks can be crafted using two wooden planks. This will create four sticks.
Materials
Depending on what you are planning to craft, depends on what you will need. If you would like a wooden tool, you need wooden planks. If you would like a stone tool, you need cobblestone. If you would like an iron tool, you need iron ingots. If you would like a gold tool, you need gold ingots. If you would like a diamond tool, you need diamonds.
Crafting
To create wooden planks, you will need wood.
To create gold ingots, you will need 9 gold nuggets.
Smelting
To create iron ingots, you will need iron ore.
To create gold ingots, you will need gold ore.
