The raft is an item used to go across large bodies of water.

The raft is crafted using six pieces of bamboo.

The raft floats on water, making it useful for crossing ocean biomes.
They can be helpful when it comes to fishing
Rafts propel you much faster than walking does, making them a very useful method of transportation.

As of update 1.20, Minecraft also has bamboo rafts, as a variation of boats. The Mine Blocks Twitter account commented on this shortly after the feature was announced, in October 16, 2022.
