Minecraft is a 3D sandbox survival game that achieved major cultural admiration. It features singleplayer and multiplayer experiences on most major platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Xbox, PlayStation, Wii U, Switch, Nintendo 3DS, and Raspberry Pi.

Minecraft was created by Mojang AB and 4J Studios in May 2009, thanks to the original work of the solo developer Markus "Notch" Persson. As the game expanded, Notch decided to step down from his company and sell it to Microsoft for $2.5 Billion, the current parent company of Mojang and the Minecraft franchise.
