A fishing rod is an fishing tool in the game. Alternatively it is used as an intermediate step for crafting the carrot on a stick.

Usage
The fishing rod can fish and reel in mobs.
If you cast a fishing rod into any amount of water, you can catch raw fish, raw salmon, pufferfish, clown fish, leather boots, bows, name tags, other fishing rods, bottle of water, enchanted books and a lot of other items.
If you shift click the fishing rod while aiming at an animal/mob, you can shift click again after nabbing the animal/mob and it will be flung in your direction without being damaged.
This tool can be enchanted as well.
