Obtaining
Spiders
Spiders drop 1-2 string upon death.
Cobwebs
Cobwebs drop 1 string if mined with a sword.
Fishing
String can be caught while fishing. It is a part of junk category.
Crafting
Seaweed can be used to craft 3 string.
A piece of rope can be crafted back into a piece of string.
Usage
Crafting Ingredient
The bow is crafted using three pieces of string.
The recipe for the fishing rod requires two pieces of string.
Rope requires three pieces of string, which gives three pieces of rope.
White wool can be crafted using four pieces of string. This is probably the easiest way to get enough wool to craft a bed, because for every 1 seaweed you can craft 3 string.
