Sneaking allows the player to move slower and avoid falling off cliffs, and getting damaged from cactus, but remember: this doesn't happen when an cowctus attacks... To sneak, press shift. Your character will get slightly shorter and shuffle around until you release shift. This is useful when you are building a row of blocks in the air and want to avoid falling off.
