The eye of ender is an item used to locate and unlock the ender portal.

Obtaining
The eye of ender is crafting using an ender pearl and blaze powder.
Usage
Showing the way to the portal
The eye of ender can point the direction to the portal. When the right mouse button is pressed while holding the eye of ender, the eye will fly several blocks towards the portal. It will then stop and fall as an item after a while. There is also a 1 in 7 chance that the eye of ender will disappear when stopped.
Unlocking the portal
Eye of ender can also be used to unlock the ender portal. It can be placed in an empty portal frame, and when all 7 are filled, the portal opens.
