The bottle of water is a "food" item used to brew potions and making juices.
Contents
Obtaining
A bottle of water is made by shift-clicking while holding and empty bottle on water or a cauldron (if it is holding water). It removes a third of the water in a cauldron, however it does not affect a water source block.
Fishing
It is possible to catch a bottle of water while fishing using a fishing rod.
Commands
The bottle of water is a type of potion, without a unique item ID. To obtain the item via commands, use /give potion 1 0 {type:"water"}
Usage
Food
Although it can be drank, it will not provide any health or restore any hunger points.
Crafting ingredient
The bottle of water is used in the crafting recipes of juices like lemonade, apple juice and orange juice.

Brewing base
The bottle of water can be turned into an awkward potion if nether wart is put into the brewing slot. This potion is useful because, although it has no effects, it is used as the base for other potions. The bottle of water is also used as a base for the weakness potion, which is created using the fermented spider eye. It can also be used to create a thick potion, using glowstone dust, and a mundane potion using any other brewing ingredient, which both have no effects.
