The Slime is a hostile bouncing cube-shaped creature that appears in caves around the world.

This mob has 4 (♥♥) Health and will drop Slimeballs when killed

Spawning

Slimes spawn deep underground in unlit caves and mines. They can appear in three different sizes: large, medium and small.

keeping in mind that the bigger the slime, the more damage and more health they have.

Commands

A Slime can be spawned in another way besides its respective spawn egg, with the command /summon slime you can spawn it.

In addition to that you can add data tags to customize the slime. examples:

  • /summon slime 1 ~ ~ {name:"space slime", health:100}
  • /summon slime 1 ~ ~ {name:"slime", drops:[{item:{id:"glowstone_dust"}}]}

Drops

Slimes drop Experience_orb_2 experience points when killed or split.

Tiny slimes also drop 2-3 Slimeball upon death.

Crafting

Crafting with the slime drop:

Behavior

Slimes will lurk in caves bouncing around at will. They can jump 1 block high. They continue bouncing in random directions until they see a player in sight.

Once they do, they will charge at the Player_head player, bouncing rapidly at them. The bigger the slime, the more ground it covers while bouncing.

Big and medium slimes do 1 heart of damage per second ( 2 (♥) ), but tiny slimes do no damage, though they still chase the player.

When killed, big slimes split into 2-4 medium slimes, and medium slimes into 2-4 tiny slimes, dropping Experience_orb_2 experience.

Trivia

  • A medium sized slime is actually more dangerous than a big slime. They deal the same amount of damage, but the medium slimes get split from bigger slimes in groups of 2-4.
  • Small slimes will always drop slimeballs in groups of 2-3.
  • The easiest way to quickly defeat a big slime in 1.28 is to defeat it using a ranged weapon. If killed by one, it will just die and not split.
  • Slimes can chase players in creative mode, but will not be able to hurt them on contact.
