Behavior
Hostile spiders will follow the player. Spiders technically don't have a direct attack, they just deal damage when in the same block or near the target. Spiders have the ability to climb up any vertical surface, even the player's home. Even though at first spiders may seem like hostile mobs, they are actually neutral, although are more hostile than passive in most cases. They spawn in the dark and are hostile in the dark, but become passive in the light. If a spider has been pursuing a player, however, they will still be hostile even after walking into the light.

Trivia
- Spiders can spawn on the surface if the time of day is between 48-102.
- Spiders like jumping: they will jump repeatedly if the spider is hostile and the player is within 2 blocks. The spider will also jump randomly when within 6 blocks of a targeted player. This creates the effect that the spider is pouncing on the player as if they are a fly.
- In Minecraft, spiders are the main source of string. However, in Mine Blocks, spiders only drop up to 2 string, whereas seaweed will yield 8 string per plant. Spiders should only be hunted if there is no seaweed nearby or if the spider is posing a threat to the player.
- You can keep a spider as a pet if it wanders into your house, and your house is well-lit.
Bugs
Even though they are one block tall, they can't go through gaps one block tall. They sometimes glitch through blocks and stay "petrified" in them.
